Save Aykley Wood Nature Reserve

We demand Reform-run Durham County Council removes Aykley Wood Nature Reserve as a proposed housing site in its review of the County Durham Plan.

Durham County Council is consulting on a new County Plan that decides where land across the county is allocated for housing, employment, and mineral extraction. The Reform-run local authority has published a list of all housing sites put for ward by developers and by the council itself. The whole 18 hectare Aykley Wood Nature Reserve in Durham City has been proposed for housing by the Council. We are fighting to have this removed from the plan. You can see the land put forward by developers and the council here.

Aykley Wood Nature Reserve is unique natural area overlooked by the Unesco World Heritage Site, which is also put at risk by these proposals. Please sign our petition today to protect the site for current and future generations.
