Liberal Democrats to attend Spring Conference
6th March 2008

Liberal Democrats in Durham are heading to Liverpool this weekend for the Party’s Spring Conference where Carol Woods has been asked to join Nick Clegg on stage to speak about the Lib Dems' turnaround of Durham City.

Liberal Democrats from across the country will be meeting in Liverpool from 7th to 9th March and Lib Dem success in Durham will be the subject of Carol Woods' speech from the main stage on Friday evening.

Carol Woods said:

“It is telling of the things we have achieved since winning control of the City Council in Durham that I have been asked to speak at the opening rally on the successes of Lib Dem-run councils in the North.

“I am also hoping to meet a number of the Party’s MPs at the conference to discuss with them the issues of post office closure and academies.

“All of us are looking forward to this conference and to voting in important policy debates on health, housing, education and defence.

“Nick Clegg will be making his first conference speech as Leader of the Liberal Democrats and the party’s Shadow Chancellor, Vince Cable MP, will also be speaking.”

Liberal Democrats hold two national conferences a year, the first in March and the main one in September.
