Lib Dems battle to save Post Offices

Local Lib Dem campaigners across Durham are leading the battle to stop Labour’s post office closures.
Labour have already closed 4000 post offices and are in the process of closing 2,500 more.
Residents are worried that local post offices may be next on the Government’s hit list.
Carol Woods is fighting to save Pittington Post Office and said, “Post offices play a vital role in our local communities. These closures will hit local people, especially older residents, very hard indeed.”
The Liberal Democrats are fighting the closures nationally. They recently presented a petition at Downing Street of over 50,000 signatures.
Lib Dem Councillor Rev Crooks (pictured with fellow campaigner Mark Wilkes) is fighting to save Witton Gilbert Post Office and said, “Labour and Conservative governments have decimated our post office network.”
“Only the Liberal Democrats have a plan to save our local post offices and to open new post offices when needed. If we don’t fight for our local post office now, it might be too late.” |
