LIB DEMS OPPOSE STATUE MOVE

The Lib Dems in Durham have reaffirmed their opposition to the removal of the statues from the Market Place.
The controversial option was one of several put forward by Durham 2020 Vision and it has been dismissed by residents and Lib Dems across the City and villages.
Leader of Durham City Council, Fraser Reynolds said, " I can categorically state that Durham City Council has no plans to remove the statues from the Market Place.
Rather than removing pieces of public art we have recently commissioned a study into how we would increase artistic commissions throughout the district. The city council has also been delighted to help a voluntary group in bringing The Journey sculpture of St Cuthbert into Millennium Square later this year." |
