It's time for a vote on Europe - Carol Woods

Durham Lib Dem campaigner Carol Woods has reiterated her demand for an EU referendum in a letter to local residents.
The full text of the letter can be found below:
Dear Resident,
It’s high time we had a referendum on Europe.
We were promised a vote at the last election but that promise has now been broken.
The Lib Dems are the only party campaigning for a worthwhile vote on Europe - are we in or are
we out? It’s time to let the people decide.
Many residents have told me how angry they are that Labour have tried to worm their way out of this referendum.
On an issue as important as this, the voice of the people must be heard.
However, given that they ignored the referendum in Durham last year which voted against the giant Unitary Council, perhaps Labour don’t think the views of taxpayers mean anything.
Time and time again we have been let down by a Labour party that ignores us and which cannot be trusted.
They think they know better than the people who elected them. I’m just pleased that the elections in May give us the chance to send New Labour a message they can’t ignore.
