John Wilkinson -

John was born and bred in Esh Winning, his family were miners of many generations. John spent most of his teaching career in Deerness Valley, serving as head teacher of Esh Winning school for 17 years. He also spent time teaching in Zambia.
John has given much of his time to helping local charities, raising substantial funds for St Cuthbert's Hospice and arranging overseas exchanges for local teenagers. He is a Parish Councillor working hard to turnaround a decade of neglect by fighting for greater investment to enhance the quality of life and and to return the villages to their former glory.
John was elected as a City Councillor in May 2007.
