Barbara Howarth - Carrville and Gilesgate Moor

I have lived in Carrville for over 40 years. My first job was in a hospital. I then taught, mainly in Special Education, for 26 years, retiring 6 years ago. I joined the Liberal Democrats as soon as the party was formed because of its values of supporting individual rights and equal opportunities. I was elected to Belmont Parish Council in May 1999, Durham County Council in June 2001 and Durham City Council in May 2003.
Local Organisations
I am very pleased to be on Governing Bodies of Belmont Comprehensive School and St. Thomas More Primary School.
Other Groups with which I am involved include:

Belmont Community Centre
Carrville Residents’ Association
Durham City Centre Youth Project
St. Mary Magdalene Parish Hall Association
East Durham City Partnership

Advisory Surgeries held:
1st Monday of each month at Carrville Methodist Church 6.00pm - 6.45pm.
1st Monday of each month at Belmont Library 7.00pm - 7.45pm.
1st Wednesday of each month at Belmont Community Centre 6.00pm - 7.00pm.
